New 22160 ship laid down

A new project 22160 patrol ship "Nikolai Sipyagin" is laid down in Tatarstan at the Zelenodolsky Shipyard, press service of Russian Ministry of Defense reports. The ceremony was attended by deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin, deputy minister of defense Yury Borisov, and president of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

The project 22160 was designed in Saint Petersburg by Severnoe PKB. The ship can accelerate to 30 knots and has a displacement of more than 1700 tons. They are armed with 57-mm main gun, SAMs and machine guns. They can take on board 12-ton helicopter. Besides, they are equipped with radio and hydroacoustic means, as well as electronic warfare equipment.
